  1. International Workers’ Day also known as International Labour Day or May Day is annually observed on 1 May to highlight the importance of workers and their contribution to the society. It is a globally recognized holiday that acknowledges the accomplishments of the labour movement. It is commemorated as a public holiday across more than 80 countries.
  2. Renowned physicist and Director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Ajit Kumar Mohanty has been appointed as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and the Secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy.
  3. Reliance General Insurance has made history by becoming the first general insurance company to accept the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) e-Rupee for premium payments.
  4. Ratan Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, was conferred with Australia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Australia (AO), for his efforts in strengthening the India-Australia bilateral relations.
  5. Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman launched ‘Reflections’, a book authored by eminent banker Narayanan Vaghul, in Mumbai, on 28 April, 2023.
  6. ITC, one of India’s largest FMCG conglomerates, has surpassed IT major Infosys to become the country’s sixth most valuable company on the stock exchanges.  
  7. On the occasion of International Mother Earth Day 2023 (22 April, 2023) the Forest Department of Government of Rajasthan declared three new conservation reserves that will protect rare and endangered species and provide a safe haven for migratory birds. The three new conservation reserves are Sorsan in Baran, Khichan in Jodhpur and Hamirgarh in Bhilwara.
  8. The SHUNYA team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay earned the second position in the Solar Decathlon Build Challenge held in the US.
  9. Jaden Pariat, a young Indian racing talent representing Argenti Motorsport, becomes first Indian to finish on podium in Britain F4 Championship.
  10. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment on 26 April 2023, signed an MoU with Art of Living, the NGO run by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, to enhance the effectiveness and reach of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
  11. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently inaugurated 91 FM transmitters in 18 states and two union territories, aimed at improving FM radio connectivity in border regions and aspirational districts.  
  12. At the 68th edition of the Hyundai Filmfare Awards Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress (Female) award for the film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
  13. For the third year in a row, Tamil Nadu has emerged as the State with the highest market borrowings according to data from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
  14. India will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in New Delhi from 3–4 July 2023, which will be Russian President Vladimir Putin’s first visit to the country since the conflict in Ukraine.
  15. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty created history by becoming the first-ever Indian men’s doubles pair to win gold medal at the Badminton Asia Championships on 30 April, 2023.
  16. N. Gopalakrishnan, the creator of the Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage (IISH) and a former scientist at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), passed away in Kochi, on 27 April, 2023 at the age of 68.
